First Baby of 2026 in Geary County Born at Stormont Vail Health Flint Hills Campus

Stormont Vail Health welcomed the first baby in Geary County of 2026 on Jan. 2, 2026, at 9:44 a.m. Baby boy Maverick Epp weighs 6 lbs. and 13 oz. and measures 20 inches long. He was born to Ashley and Anthony Epp.


Stormont Vail’s Birthplace offers compassionate, high-quality care for expectant mothers. The nurses and staff have specialized training in labor and delivery to ensure mothers have a healthy and safe delivery. Stormont Vail has the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the region located in Topeka. The NICU is equipped to provide the highest level of care for infants who need extra attention.
