We Celebrate Monica Vazquez: June 2025 Person of the Moment

Sometimes, patient care extends beyond the walls of the clinic. This month, we’re proud to honor Monica Vazquez, an LPN at our Manhattan Campus, for going the extra mile – literally and figuratively – to support a patient in a moment of need.

Monica proves that great care doesn’t end when the appointment does and perfectly exemplifies our third tenet, “Together we own patient safety and patient experience. We provide safe, high-quality care with a kind and generous spirit.”

There is a Manhattan Campus Cardiology patient who is blind. He has always relied on a friend to bring him to our office for his appointments with our providers. His provider’s health would not allow him to do this as the friend is in a wheelchair.

The patient managed to get himself onto the public transportation here in Manhattan and was dropped off at the nearest stop. This is still quite a way from our clinic. The patient managed to find his way up the hill to our clinic and even made it on time for it.

During his intake and appointment, the patient had voiced how challenging today had been for him. This is where Monica stepped in. When the patient’s appointment was over, she took the time away from the floor to walk the patient back to the bus stop, assuring he made it there safe without harm.

Cardiology was at low staff at that time, but the patient’s safety was more of a priority for Monica. She is always willing to go out of the way to ensure the patients are taken care of and their needs met. She is a true shining star of Stormont Vail!
