Highlights From the 2026 Women’s Wellness Summit
Thank you to everyone who joined us at our first-ever Stormont Vail Health Women’s Wellness Summit! On Friday, April 10, more than 100 women gathered together for honest conversations about aging, wellness, and navigating every stage of life with confidence. Attendees gained practical insight, helpful resources, and a stronger understanding of how to support their own health.
We Celebrate Megan Affolter, February 2026 Person of the Moment
We often talk about going the extra mile. For Megan Affolter, RN Preceptor at our Flint Hills Campus, that extra mile was 65 miles of continuous, lifesaving care. Her actions reflect the very best of Stormont Vail Health: compassion, courage, collaboration, and commitment, no matter the conditions.
Continuing Our Commitment to Critically Ill Children
As pediatric services change across our region, Stormont Vail Health remains committed to caring for children when they need it most. Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) teams continue to provide specialized, around-the-clock critical care for infants, children, and teens, delivered by an experienced interdisciplinary team focused on safety, compassion, and excellence.
We are proud to serve families across northeast Kansas by ensuring access to high-level pediatric critical care—close to home.
Happy Feet Start Here
Your feet carry you through life. Are you taking care of them?
Join Dr. Henry Goppert, podiatry specialist, for a casual, one mile walk focused on foot and ankle health, prevention, and when it’s time to see a specialist—while answering your questions along the way.
Welcome Baby Jubilee is This Sunday
Reminder—Welcome Baby Jubilee is from 2-4 p.m., this Sunday, April 19, at Stormont Vail Hospital.
Please encourage your friends and families who are expecting or planning a pregnancy to attend. It’s a great opportunity to help families feel confident and supported every step of the way!
Together in Excellence: Our 2025 Community Report Is Here
Every day, Stormont Vail Health works alongside our community to deliver safe, high‑quality, compassionate care. Our 2025 Community Report highlights how those commitments came to life over the past year through patient care, innovation, team member achievements, and meaningful community partnerships.
Inside the report, you’ll find highlights including:

Together, we’re building a healthier future—one patient, one family, and one community at a time.
National Healthcare Decisions Day – April 16
National Healthcare Decisions Day is Thursday, April 16, and Stormont Vail Health will once again recognize this important observance by hosting an informational table near the Food Connection on the Topeka Hospital campus.
From 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., stop by to learn more about advance care planning and why it’s important to make your healthcare wishes known—before a medical crisis occurs. Resources and informational materials will be available.
Whether you already have an advance directive or are just beginning to think about these decisions, this is a great opportunity to ask questions and gather information in a relaxed, informal setting.
