The Stormont Vail Wound Care Center earns Center of Distinction Recognition from Healogics

The Stormont Vail Wound Care Center recently earned a Center of Distinction recognition from Healogics for four consecutive years. The Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for twelve consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 92 percent within 28 median days to heal.

“Receiving this recognition for four consecutive years underscores that whether we are treating a diabetic ulcer, pressure ulcer or a radiation burn, our providers and team members ensure that each of our patients receives high-quality, compassionate care,” said Karen Conley, program director. “Through our approach to care that involves multiple specialties, we ensure that our treatments have high success rates and that our patients can heal quickly and effectively.”

In 2020, 264 providers referred patients to the Wound Care Center and over 6,000 wound assessments were performed.

“Through the excellent collaboration with referring providers throughout the region, we were able to provide wound care to 811 new patients,” said Conley. “We will continue to develop these vital relationships as we continue to grow our practice and help even more patients heal in 2021.”

The Center opened in 2004 and offers leading-edge treatments such as compression therapy, debridements, cellular and tissue-based products, negative-pressure wound therapy, pressure off-loading devices, and total contact casting. The Center also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound. Providers practicing at the center are Christopher Brodine, DPM, CWS; Bita Haji Zadeh, M.D.; Robert Holmes, M.D., CWS; Dr. Michael L. Smith, M.D.; and Donnett Streeter, APRN, CWS.
