Stormont Vail Health has been recognized as a Blue Distinction^® Center for Bariatric Surgery, a designation awarded to healthcare facilities that demonstrate expertise in delivering high-quality, safe, and effective bariatric surgical care.

The Blue Distinction Centers program recognizes medical facilities that meet rigorous selection criteria established by Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Facilities receiving this designation are evaluated on measures related to patient outcomes, safety, and quality improvements.

“Receiving this designation reflects our commitment to providing exceptional care for patients seeking sustainable weight-loss solutions and improved health,” said Dr. Partha Bhurtel, a Mayo Clinic-Trained bariatric surgeon at Stormont Vail. “Our weight management team is dedicated to helping patients achieve their goals through comprehensive, compassionate care before, during, and after surgery.”

Since 2018, Stormont Vail’s experienced surgeons have successfully performed over 500 bariatric weight loss surgeries using advanced techniques, including robotic-assisted surgery, to minimize complications, pain, and recovery time.
