Angie Vickery Receives September 2023 Crystal Apple Award

Many educators enter this field driven by an authentic desire to make a positive difference in children’s lives but often go underrecognized and underappreciated for their work. To honor the community’s educators, local radio station Majic 107.7 grants the Crystal Apple Award each month to a teacher, coach, school administrator, or office worker who goes above and beyond in their role.

On Sept. 12, Majic 107.7 granted the Crystal Apple Award to Building Blocks Learning Education Center preschool instructor Angie Vickery for her “exceptional and unwavering dedication” to preschool education.

Angie, a Building Blocks early educator for over 30 years, received the nomination from a student’s parent for her efforts to prepare the child for kindergarten. Angie’s expertise and compassion went a long way to ease the often-challenging transition between preschool and kindergarten, setting the stage for a successful school year.

“With her boundless patience, kindness, and genuine love for the children, she has not only inspired a love for learning but also instilled valuable life skills,” the nomination read. “The impact of her amazing work resonates not only with the students but also with their families, who have repeatedly expressed gratitude for her positive influence.”

Angie received the September 2023 Crystal Apple Award, emblazoned with her name, and a prize package from Prairie Band Casino and Resort earlier this month. Additionally, Building Blocks qualified to enter a $1,000 sweepstake, the recipient of which Majic 107.7 will announce in January 2024.

“I am so blessed to be able to work with all the amazing children in my class over the years that I have been with Building Blocks,” said Angie. “I love getting to know the families. It brings me so much joy to teach and help guide each child to their next journey. Being nominated by one of my parents is such an honor.”

Angie spends her free time in much the same way as in the Owls Classroom, where she teaches four and five-year-olds: continuously learning and engaging with those she cares for most. She enjoys reading, watching her sons play hockey, and spending time with her daughter and grandchildren.

Angie’s efforts demonstrate how every team member, whether they deliver care in the clinic or classroom, can exemplify Stormont Vail Health’s third tenant in their role: “Together we own patient safety and the patient experience. We provide safe, high-quality care with a kind and generous spirit.”

Angie, congratulations on winning the September 2023 Crystal Apple Award! After more than three decades of service, you have profoundly impacted numerous children’s lives. We sincerely appreciate your tireless dedication to education, our community’s youth, and our organization.
