Stormont Vail Team Bowling Event Rolls Like a Perfect Game

Stormont Vail Health’s inaugural team bowling event last Friday evening certainly rolled out the teamwork – and was a strike of fun for all who attended. With 30 bowling teams representing departments from across the system, creativity abounded in bowling attire and team names. Team Munson from OT/PT had the top score and took home the Championship SVH Belt. Rollin’ Thunder representing Security and Rick Management, came in second. To Legit to Split, Neuro Lab, was third. Thank you to all who participated and showed us camaraderie is flourishing at Stormont Vail.

High 5 for Mom & Baby Premier Recognition

Congratulations to our Mother & Baby Team for once again achieving the High 5 for Mom & Baby Premier Recognition! This distinction demonstrates our commitment to providing evidence-based maternity care that supports every mom’s breastfeeding goals. Our team’s ongoing dedication to excellence in maternity care reassures parents that they’ll be in the best possible hands while preparing to breastfeed. Most importantly, it provides numerous lifelong health benefits for our communities’ mothers and infants.

We Celebrate Martin Gray: March 2025 Person of the Moment

This month, we recognize Martin Gray, a security officer at Stormont Vail Hospital, for bringing a level of humanity to his role that didn’t just impact a patient’s experience, but saved their life.

Congratulations to DAISY Award Winner Keely Wilson

We applaud Keely Wilson, a nurse in our Pediatric ICU, for receiving a DAISY Award after she encouraged a young patient following a dirt bike accident. “Keely was always encouraging our son by telling him, ‘You’ve got this!’ and would challenge him when things got difficult. Our son is not the most talkative person, so it was very important to have a nurse who could encourage him to communicate his needs and feelings,” her nomination read.

Retirement Reception to Honor Joy Henderson, M.D.

Dr. Joy Henderson has been a vital part of our team as a Family Medicine physician. She came to Topeka to participate in the Family Residency of Topeka from 1995 to 1998, and joined the Carbondale Clinic in July 1998. She later worked at 901 Garfield, Urish Clinic and then Asbury Clinic. After her residency, she has dedicated nearly 30 years to caring for our patients and the community. To honor Dr. Henderson’s contributions and wish her well in the next chapter, we invite you to her retirement reception this Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the Cotton O’Neil Asbury Drive Conference room.

Come Enjoy a Picnic with Pups!

Even busy bees stop to smell the roses! Take a break with our friends at Volunteer Services! Join us in the courtyard at Stormont Vail Hospital Wednesday, April 30, 2025, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for sunshine, fresh air, and a Paw Squad pick-me-up. If the weather changes, meet us in Pozez Education Center instead!

We together,
Dr. Kenagy
